Our latest site, Tewitfield Marina is located in the small town of Carnforth, just 30 minutes from the Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales.
There’s plenty to do in and around the are, I’ll list a few below for you.
Originally a working dairy farm, Greenlands decided to diversify in 2009 to add multiple artisan country elements to the public. Greenlands’ now features an open farm, soft play area, mini golf centre and artisan village including farm shop, cheesecake shop garden centre and a wine merchant. It is the working farm that draws the most crowds as it is a fantastic family day out. The working farm has over 120 animals, some of which are very rare and hardly ever seen! There’s also a large area undercover, so there’s no need to worry if it starts to rain!
Warton Crag is a naturally important area of limestone habitat including grassland, woodland and limestone pavement, supporting some of Britain’s rarest butterflies. Warton Crag is the highest point in the Arnside and Silverdale Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Did you know the West side of the crag is a breeding ground for the fastest bird in the skies, the Peregrine Falcon?
For those that love being in the water, Capernwrey dive centre is a wonderful few hours. The 11-acre site is filled with shoals of roach, trout and 6-foot sturgeon! There are many different underwater sites, including an underwater plane! Lessons are available to those that wish, alternatively, you can just pay for your pass and dive whenever it is open.
Built by a group of enthusiasts in 1979, this miniature railway offers visitors a chance to ‘ride on’ miniature steam engines on7 1/4″ gauge tracks. There is also a lovely picnic area where you can sit and watch the trains go past. A great way to spend a few hours in Carnforth.
A small micro brewery in Carnforth started off as a hobby and quickly expanded into a thriving business. Every month there are select events such as open mic nights, beer festivals and on the second Friday of every month is the themed open night. This includes live music, a wide selection of ales and the occasional brewery talk!
Located in Greenlands’ Farm Village, Northern Archery offers both woodland and target archery from only £12.00 per head. For woodland archery, you will be walking around a woodland, shooting at different targets from 3D animals and 2D faces. Each session lasts around 90 minutes and is suited for children ages 8+.
Kirkby Lonsdale is located just a couple of miles away from Tewitfield Marina in Carnforth. Kirkby Lonsdale is renowned for its quaint village feel, with an abundance of shops, cafés, bars and country inns. When visiting Kirkby Lonsdale, you must go and visit Devil’s Bridge and Ruskin’s View, just two of the many iconic view points from around the area. For food and drink lovers, there is Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery, serving a wide selection of locally brewed ales and The Ship Inn, serving high-quality local produce at a reasonable price point/
