Dog Friendly Weekend Break in Lancashire

We stayed at Tewitfield Marina – a purpose built hamlet just off the M6 in Lancashire to see what we could do in the local area that was dog-friendly and relax along the way.

The Marina is perfectly located to explore Lancashire being just off the M6. You can quickly get to where you need to be, and we found this helped to draw us to more adventurous locations and get more done than if we had to face narrow country roads everyday.

We kicked off the weekend when we arrived with with a cup of tea on the balcony overlooking the Marina. It was a relaxing atmosphere preparing for the day ahead whilst watching the ducks swim by below. Our dog had one of the “doggy packs” which included a dog bed, bowl, biscuits, tennis ball, and ‘whoopsie’ bags so we could pack light for our weekend away.

We knew of a nice walk along the canal we could get to straight from the Marina which would end at a great pub (extra incentive!). With two of us and dog in tow, finding dog-friendly places was a must. Thankfully, Lancashire has lots of dog-friendly places to see and things to do, so bringing the dog isn’t the hassle it used to be.

The walk took us along the canal and up into the surrounding hills for some fantastic views. Safe to say our four legged friend loved the walk and tennis ball we were given.

The Kings Arms pub was a welcome stop off on the walk before heading back.

We had dinner at the nearby Longlands Inn as it was just outside the Marina and is a fantastic place to grab a bite to eat when more walking is out of the question! Safe to say we all had a great stay and are looking forward to heading further afield…
